Connecting With Other Designers

So this weekend Kyle Steed flew out from Texas to hang out, and come to Collekt out creative Twitter meet up started by Garth Humbert. While Kyle was down here we took the chance to record a quick video about connecting with other designers, and some of the things that we saw come out of the discussions we had during Collekt.

Thanks Kyle for coming out and Garth for putting it together. I had a great time. Also a huge thanks to everyone who came out for the Collekt meet up, we had a great time, and some really great discussion about design, and the design community.

This is awesome guys, I really like what you’re doing out there, exciting stuff. Us folks in the UK need to get something similar started, makes total sense. All the best with everything and I’m sure it’ll keep growing from strength to strength.

Dude, you guys nailed it. Before I left my 9-5 job I joined up with a local group like that here in my town and it really opened doors. I collaborate with those folks all the time, we share work and have collectively raised the quality of what everyone is doing.

Seriously if anyone watched this video and wants to improve your work the best thing you can do is to find people in your area doing the same thing, join a professional group, plug in, get involved. If there isn’t a group, start one, it will make you so much better at whatever you do.

Loving the dialogue that’s happening here — vidcast, vlog, chatcreative, collekt — and more importantly the action(s) that is going to result from it. Really excited about the future and watching the creative network grow.

Thanks for coming out Kyle, you’re welcome any time.

Nice. Aaron, I think you’ve convinced me to get a water fall in my house. You had it in a video a couple weeks ago and again in this one. The background ambiance is so chill. It would probably be a welcome offset to 4 kids running around the house all day. Glad you guys had a good time.

    Aaron, Garth -

Thanks for making my stay in Southern California an amazing time. I really felt connected to everybody I met and the conversations we had going on Saturday at the Collekt meeting were awesome. I’m glad I got to meet everyone and I definitely plan on being back (sooner than later I hope).

    Collekt Crew -

I really feel this is just the beginning of a whole new way of working together. Like Aaron says in the video, we can work with each other and not against and still be successful, probably even more so than if we were just trying to make it on our own. So let’s focus on making what we say a reality, because we can talk and talk but until we put “pen to paper” nothing will get done.

    Thanks again.

It’s awesome that you guys want to go beyond just “talking”, and improve the connection among the design community. Honestly, I’m really grateful just for all the “talking” :) It’s has been a blessing to be able to connect with so many talented people who are interested in getting to know you and teach you something new. It’s really inspiring. Thanks all you guys for putting yourself out there and I look forward to your future plans.
