Finding Design Support

So this week I have really been noticing the need to have awesome people around you that you can rely on to help out… with encouragement, code problems, and design feedback… do you have that group?

Support is important for everyone and I think its great that you’re encouraging everyone to build relationships beyond the surface level. Social networking can be that much more useful when we use it as a tool to encourage and support one another. Through supporting each other, we help our fellow designers and sharpen our own skills at the same time.

This is the biggest thing that I got from design school….not so much the lessons and projects (although valuable), but the critiques and feedback from other designers. The best thing you can do in design is get good criticism from your original idea and make it better.

Also, this idea of support also adds so much confidence for me. Knowing that I can take almost any project, and use a network to get it all done is priceless. Frankly its never been possible before the internet and social net. The resources we have and the relationship we can build, are often time not used to their full potential.

Love the constant flow of inspiration. Good to hear things are moving for you. Much love man!

I started a Refresh chapter here in Indianapolis (http://refreshindy.com). It’s been lots of fun and a really great way to bring folks together. Especially since we don’t limit ourselves to “just designers” or “just developers”.

Support is something I think is valuable to anyone trying to accomplish their goals or even just trying to get by day to day. I’m fortunate to have the support of my family, a close group of friends, and my best friend Tiffany.

When it comes to down to getting the support I need as an artist or designer I turn to some people that I’ve met over the years in the community as well as people I’ve worked with in the past. Never underestimate the value of making strong connections and building relationships with people, you never know when you’re going to need them or the goodwill you’ve built up.

I agree with Joel. It’s very important to get feedback on all of your work. It will help you build a stronger portfolio and better work.
Thanks for uploading this post. It’s great to hear different points of view.
