hello there
Thanks for visiting the site. My name is Aaron Irizarry and I am the User Experience Designer for Harte Hanks/Pennysaver.
I like to make cool stuff that is easy on the eyes, and even easier to use. This is the place where I talk about those things and whatever else comes to mind… {read more}

Much like a baseball player in a slump, or a golfer with the shanks – you have work through it. Keep at it. Press on. It will get better (eventually). Not every project is going to be easy. I feel like I accomplish more after getting through a difficult project. It’s more rewarding for me.
When I’m burned out, I try not to dwell on it on how shitty things are. In the big picture of life, a difficult project or client is really not worth the stress and anxiety. That’s life!
Aaron,
I like the change up in the Friday Vidcast. This is a topic that commanded the entire time.
I can’t agree more. People can be amazingly resilient when times get tough and I think it’s important for everyone to keep in mind that it’s during those times that we grow, as people and as designers. I always tell myself, it does not matter how many times you get knocked down, the only thing that matters is how many times are you going to get back up. My wife and to kids help me out as well, what a great way to get away.
Thanks Aaron.
great vid aaron. we’ve all been in those tough situations where it feels like one more thing could cause it all to come crashing down and its tough. its during those times that we have to just man up and push through it because at the end of the day, people are counting on us to get a job done.
i fully agree with your point about talking with other designers about problem projects. having fellow designers/friends around you is a big help. its little things like chatting with someone over coffee or a drink that can go a long way when you’re stressed/discouraged. just like a sports team, having support is key, and i think that’s one thing that sets the design industry apart from so many others. i’ve met so many cool people in this industry that are just as concerned for another persons success as they are their own and i think that’s huge.
I always find myself pressured with doing soo many things at once. I cannot think of how many times I have created a design and said I am not feeling this. I think It’s very important that designers get away from their computer screen and get some fresh air. Taking time away from the computer gives me time to think and get away from all the frustration.
Another great vid Aaron!
