This post was mentioned on Twitter by aaroni268: Friday Vidcast http://bit.ly/2BZZzp – 1 year anniversary contest!…

Congrats on your achievement Aaron!! It’s been a great year and I look forward to another year of funfilled videos and ideas. Good luck with everything!!

I’d love to see the topic, “Transition from Corporate Designer to Freelance/Independent Designer.”

    Hold Fast!

1 year! holy crap thats awesome! Thanks for taking the time to pour your insight and wisdom into video format for us to glean from.

I’d have to say that my favorite TIAL article thus far is “Design is for Grown Ups… Right?” I think this is such an important topic for designers since often times we get caught up in completing the project on time and we forget to put our heart and soul into the design. Always great insight Aaron.

As far as a new topic, I’d like to see something on how you personally deal with time management. I know you work your ass of and i wanna know how you balance everything ;) Second choice would be the same as David’s request above.

    happy anniversary! :)

First off, congrats on the one year celebrations. That’s awesome. You’ve definitely helped make a difference to a lot of designers. I know I’ve gained a lot of knowledge reading your blog and checking out your vidcasts each week.

I’ll jump in on this contest. I would love to win some credits.

For me, one of best vidcasts that you did was the “being burnt out as a designer” I think it was in October sometime. It was during a time when I was really struggling with some of my own client projects. I was able to take some of what you said and apply it to my own situation. I ended up finishing off those projects quickly and the client was really happy with the end results.

Almost forgot the most important part of this contest: “Aaron’s the most amazing human on earth.” That’s a great way to get some additional kudos.

Again, congrats and looking forward to seeing what’s next from thisisaaronslife

  6. Congrats. Only recently discovered this blog, but i love your perspective. Helps keep my head level when dealing with difficult clients. Looking forward to seeing what more is to come. Again, thanks for all the challenges!

  7. Dan Collins says:

Congrats man! I have to agree with Rich above that “Design is for Grown Ups… Right?” is one of my favs too. It made me start collecting all the art inspiration from my kids. Good luck!

  8. David Bolton says:

    Hi Aaron,

Congratulations on a year with the blog, I found it a few months ago and really look forward to your Friday vidcasts. I think it was a brave move to start the videos and put yourself out there like that, I for one am glad you did though. Design can be a lonely business, it is a great comfort that other designers are having the same issues that I have day to day.

    Good luck and congratulations.

  9. 1. Congrats, you’re doing great!
    2. Aaron’s the most amazing human on the face of the earth.
3a. A little birdie told me an idea involving a fake aaroni talking about designing in a vacuum. Could be an interesting topic. On a more serious note… I second the time management topic.
3b. The articles and videos are great, thank you for doing them. Sometimes by the time Friday rolls around we can get a little tired with what we are doing. I find the Friday Vidcasts a good kick in my inspiration to keeping pushing forward in what I am doing. So with that, one of favorite articles was Oct 30th vidcast about getting over ourselves and changing the way we interacting with clients.

Prizes are cool but I don’t need anything for saying you’re awesome. ;-)

  10. Aaron, you are awesome. Nice Tats too. My idea for the next vid cast is the use of CSS Frameworks, dos and don’ts

What can I say man? The truth is that in this past year you have been one of the biggest supporters/influences on me as a designer. From coming out to California to meet you and Garth, to starting my video blogs, you have done nothing but encourage me. And I know it’s not just me you’ve affected, but a whole ton of people. So I just want to say thanks and keep up the awesome work you’re doing for our community. You work is not going unnoticed.

This is my favorite post, because its a unique angle for the camera as opposed to the other camera angels which are more side profile, level. This camera angle is like I am talking down to you in a condescending way, makes me feel powerful.

  13. dv says:

I didn’t mention this last week, so happy anniversary! And at least you’re not pregnant, lolz.

Silliness aside, thanks for putting out insightful stuff. You have a knack for presenting/speaking about design in ways that I could never put into marketing copy! Keep on keepin’ on with the awesome sauce-age (awesome sausage?)

  14. Aaron A says:

I like the vidcasts the best, always a nice way to finish off the week. Also I should win because i own the same shirt you are wearing at the beginning of each Friday Vidcast, lol.

  15. Justin Leonard says:

    OMGYHTBKM! 1 Year, Yeah!
A post I am looking forward to in the upcoming year would be regarding balancing family and a Design career. As many of us take this path of creativity with the family in tow it is interesting how we can stay focused yet keep out of the “dog house”.
