In this weeks vidcast we look at the Re-launch of a new twitter app called Twimailer. We also talk about expanding our skill set in an effort to adapt to the continual growth and changes in our industry. There are incredible opportunities out their for us to be apart of and capitalize on, but it is going to take us thinking outside of the box, learning new skills, and seeing the bigger picture.
Twimailer
Twimailer uses the email that you use for your Twitter account and sends your a more detailed notification when someone has followed you. The email will now have detailed information about the person who has followed you, you will be able to see how many people they are following, how many people are following them, their avatar, bio , link to their website, and up to 10 of their most recent twitter updates.
Twimailer is a free service that can help increase the value of your Twitter interaction. You can visit the site now www.twimailer.com and sign up the current site is very skeletal and has been given a complete face lift for the re-launch. We will be relaunching the app next week with a new design, and product screen cast (thanks to Kyle Steed for the logo help). Here is the mock up of the new look and feel.

I am really stoked to be apart of the relaunch of this app, there are a lot of great plan for further development and enhancements in the coming months. Thanks to Steve for allowing me to be apart.
So head on over to www.twimailer.com and sign up and test drive the app as we get ready for the re-launch next week!
A Sign of the Times
Things are changing, each week I am learning about new applications, that will revolutionize this, and improve the way we use that, new technologies html5, css3, iPhone apps that wash your car, make coffee, and remind the world just how cool you are. The web is changing, mobile technology is advancing at rates that we cant keep up with, and everything is becoming exceptionally social. I really believe that web apps are a major part of the future. So what does this mean for us?
Exciting times are ahead, but we must be ready for them, I am seeing that it is going to benefit us immensely to be multi-disciplined in our trade. To really capitalize on these changes we need to be able to move past just being a designer, or code monkey, it is time to learn new authoring languages, work on our design/illustration skills, and realize that by being a jack of all trades we will have more a chance to adapt, and secure a spot in the future of the interwebs.
What areas are you looking to learn more about, or improve in?

“the future is becoming a jack of all trades”
*gasp* I have to say I don’t agree with you on this. I would rather be an expert in one area rather than knowing a little about a lot of things. But I’m glad we don’t always see eye to eye, otherwise it would be a boring world.
However, I do like your approach to getting involved with as many projects as possible, even if it’s just a tiny role. Because when we can show our abilities on a project, however small, that will ultimately lead to us getting our name out there and picking up bigger roles on other projects.
kyle steed’s last blog post..Todays forecast: chance of brainstorming
haha kyle damn you for not agreeing..lol
I definitely agree that doing one thing well is very important… with the way things are going a lot of the lines are blurring “jack of all trades” may not have been the best term, but the ability to expand our skill set will help in adapting to our space as it changes.
Thanks again man for the help with the Twimailer logo…

This is my first comment here, and I have to ask – are you in the laundry room? Either way, good thoughts here. I agree with the jack of all trades concept. I think with this industry, it is inevitable that our skill set will expand and grow, morph… if it doesn’t, we are doing something really wrong.
@meredith,
LOL… what you are seeing is the what is know as “the lab” ( or what my wife calls “the garage”) it is the one place in my house where I can set up my office and crank out work, without too much chaos around.
Thanks for commenting…

sounds like Topify.com that i prefer and seems more useful. Good luck to you
Hey Aaron!
The new twimailer design looks great. Can’t wait to see it live.
I signed up for twimailer a while back but it recently quit working for me so I switched to a similar service. I would like to switch back but I guess I deleted the email address that I need to insert into twitter in order to use the service. Could you tell me who I need to hit up in order to get that straightened out?
As always, lovin’ the Friday vidcasts! Keep up the awesome work.
@Phillip
thanks man.. we are definitely still working out some kinks as we just took it over. There are some issues technical and non that we are working on cleaning up before the final launch.
if you have any technical questions direct them to stevemcstud@gmail.com
That Twimailer is really a cool concept. I am excited to give it a try. I do agree that some awesome things are happening now and going to happen…technology is continually morphing and definitely faster than I can keep up!
Good work!
