Friday Vidcast 6-05-09
For this weeks vidcast we cover a bit of news, and announce the launch date of the new www.thisisaaronslife.com design, and take a look at a couple of other topics
News and Updates
So this week I got my fully coded custom WP theme back from PSD to WP, they did a great job, and I will be huslting over the weekend to get it rolling, and launch it Monday.
I was also very lucky to do an interview for MyInkBlog.com that turned out pretty awesome, thanks to Andrew for the opportunity, and to all those who have commented and left feedback on the interview I really appreciate all the support.
On wednesday my guest article “How to stay ahead of the curve as a designer” on www.sixrevisions.com went live. I recevied a ton of feedback and input thank you all so much for supporting that article and support SixRevisions.
Be on the look out for the new TIAL design next week as well as a pretty cool video interview that is in the works.
Site of the Week
The site of the week this week isn’t just a site, it covers the continued launch of the Fuel Brand Network (they will soon rule the world) and some great interaction between Kyle Steed, and the Perel Brothers.
The Fuel network is continuing to grow, and I am very excite to see Adelle expand on the Fuel Your Creativity vision. The best thing about this is that more and more people in the design community are getting involved, and using there abilities to contribute to the design community. Check out the Fuel Brand Network, and what you can contribute!
Video bloggin is picking up steam in the design community, and this last week there was some rad interaction on From The Couch as they addressed the idea of just putting our stuff our there and going for it. Check out the vidblog… really great stuff to see people encouraging and helping each other.
Community is helping each other get to places that we cant get to on our own.
Food for Thought
Simply put you cant control everything, so focus your energies on controlling what you can, this will help focus, and dealing with the frustration of clients, deadlines, and other dev team issues.
Wrapping Up
So wrapping this up thank you to everyone who read the interview, and guest articles over the last couple of weeks, and continues to support and visit This is Aaron’s Life.
So I wanna show some follow love to a cool guy… Ben Saren is the CEO of City Squares, and I have had the awesome opportunity to connect with him via twitter. I have really enjoyed his interaction, and suggest that everyone follow him… he rulez! I am getting the opportunity to colaborate with him on some projects (links to come later), and love the fact that he loves what he does! and can see ohter peoples passion and hep find way for them to use those skillz.
So follow @bsaren tell him Aaron I said hey, and interact with a cool guy from Boston, and check out City Squares.

“Helping each other to get to the places that we couldn’t get on our own.”
Freaking love it. And I think you’re a pretty rad dude too. We need to hook up on skype again soon.
Take it easy.

Another awesome vidcast man.
Your posts continue to be an inspiration and motivator for student designers like myself. Keep it up man, it’s doing nothing but good for you and your followers!

Loved this one. Its cool to see this community of designers progress each other. I know I personally am super blessed and thankful for the people I have met and interacted with in the past 6 months. This network is priceless to me and I feel like I would be lost without it. Your spot on on this one Aaron. Much love.
P.S. And i think mr. steed is a rad dude too. We need to get him out to cali so he can have a double-double.
Joel Beukelman’s last blog post..Another 1011 Roadtrip…
It is really exciting as a designer/developer that is just starting out to see this kind of talk going on in the field I’m stepping into.
Just gets me excited to know that there is that ‘community’ aspect and it isn’t some high school popularity contest and that current designer/developers/creatives aren’t viciously guarding their knowledge and hording their know-how/mistakes/experience.
It feels very reminiscent of the time just following the printing press, very much a ‘Renaissance’ feel to current times in my opinion.
Great vid, I look forward to more.

How about a sneak peak at the new design like the Obox guys do?
I have a video blog now, too. I follow you on Twitter and I am also enjoying that and the content here.
Thank you,
Dr, Gigabyte
Aaron, Love your passion and completely dig your collaborative nature. Keep up the posts. Thanks for the reference to Fuel!

Yo man! Thanks for those props, very cool. And I couldn’t agree with you more – passion has a way of finding passion. Funny how we’re magnetized to like minded people, as you articulated. And mostly repelled by downers and naysayers. Good stuff man!
Hey, whats that screensaver you had going? Is that for mac? I love it!
Ben Saren’s last blog post..Armed to the Teeth
Great vidcast Aaron. I know what you mean about watching yourself on camera, I’m the worst. But you flow real well, and you passion for design is contageous! Thanks so much for the reference back to the interview on MIB. That was a lot of fun, and I think it made for a cool post.
Andrew Houle’s last blog post..Left-Brained vs. Right-Brained – The Developer/Designer Paradox
Very nicely executed. Never been a big fan of self promotion so we have a similar mindset there. Look forward to the up comings
and the new site design.
Cheers,
