Friday Vidcast 6-19-09

This weeks Friday Vidcast discusses some news updates, and focuses on breaking out of ruts, and taking the right risks to better improve our product offering as designers and developers.

My apologies for the quick run through on the vidcast, but my baybee gurl is sick(104.5 deg temp) so there are other things at hand for the moment(not to mention I didn’t get much sleep).

The Site of the week is the recent article on the UXbooth site a great article about counting clicks. you can read the article here.

I am getting a new camera this next week so that should be fun, and increase the quality of the vidcast.

Wrapping things up I am speaking at Local Search Summit in San Fransisco on July 17th head over to www.localsearchsummit.com to get more info. If you use code “TIAL” when registering you get $100 off the conference cost.

Keep your puck on the ice,

HA!!! Screw the cave people!!!! So weird. At Lighthouse we just had a huge discussion about average screen size and who to design for. And I completely agree about designing for what the client needs. Forget trends, forget what your used to…..I think if we design strictly for the clients needs, we will arrive at new trends and a different approach to executing design. If we really want to get outside out comfort zone, we should try taking what a clients criticism is and turn it into an awesome design solution. Much love Aaron.

Great point: “taking risks is the only way we’re going to learn.” Client criticism is the hammer and chisel that constantly shapes our concepts to improvement. Sometimes the best critiques are the most harsh.

I hope your daughter gets better! It’s always scary when the kid gets a high fever.

Such a great video! I agree most people do what others are doing….be yourself in design what you like and create what you think is cool!
