Friday Vidcast 7-24-09

This weeks Friday Vidcast talks about my new opportunity to work for Infoswell Media, and valuing your design community by taking time to connect outside of the interwebs with actual creatives in your local area.

Site of the week

This week the site of the week is a bit different from normal, as there are two sites of focus. Whitney Hess’s blog, and Kyle Steed’s blog.

I had the opportunity to help Whitney with her blog this last week, and in Perusing it (even though I am already a subscriber) I was reminded of the valuable content that is there. Her posts are very informative, and a must read for any who is into UX, or is just getting into the field. Another very bright point is her interaction with those who comment, and interact on the blog, and via twitter. It is awesome to see her passion for her craft, and the value she puts into those who are a part of the UX community, but also those who look to her for her knowledge and insight. So head over and check out her blog.

Kyle Steed is six feet four inches of awesome, and I always enjoy hearing his insights, and seeing his passion for building and investing in the design community. He has a great contest going on over at his blog, so cruise over and check it out, as well as his latest in the Branded Designers series.

Food for Thought

This weeks food for thought is focused on the personal aspect of the design community. Alot of us connect online, but I believe their is immense value in getting out in our local areas, and meeting the creatives that work and live around us. This has been a great benefit for me, and I am sure that it will benefit you.

Wrapping Up

Wrapping up this week, I am very excite for the new opportunity I have to join the Infoswell Media team so of course my follow friday love is for infoswell, and Donaville Herrick ( the only twitter info I have at this moment for the team). Be looking for active involvement from Infoswell in the design community as I dive in head first and enjoy the awesome opportunity to do what I love.

  2. Major congrats on the new job move! So true on the feedback and the interacting with readers being important. Not to mention the value of community. Always been an important focus for Angie and myself.

Angie and I are lucky enough to live in a very creative little community in the hills, and our neighbors are a glass artist and a painter that we commune with almost daily.

  3. Congrats on the new job Aaron!

  7. Wow, thank you so much for the kind words! I really appreciated your help last week. Unfortunately that post still isn’t getting any Google love, but perhaps I should just be patient.

thats what we need man… more people ready to give instead of get, and watch the growth that happens, you will be surprised by how much you get as a result of being willing to help others out.
